Teachers are significant adults in students' lives. As official authority figures, the empathic approach they take has the potential to contribute to their students' sense of mental well-being and bring them success. This lecture will share three guidelines for building empathic authority.

Who is the Responsible Adult Here? Parents, Teachers, and the Child between Them.

The annual International Education Conference of the OECD - the Bienniale for Designers of the Future in Education 2022. 

The lecture trains a spotlight on the role of parents and teachers and their centrality in the educational act, by virtue of being the most significant adults for the development of the child. The discussion will be expanded to the adult-child relationship in the field of education, and the steps that the school system must take to bring about the children's prosperity and success.

The approach we use to address problem solving is, among other things, what determines whether we succeed or fail. This approach is made up of the reasons we attribute to our success, and the belief in our ability to change them. Our attitude can be changed, and with it the odds of success!

The educational act requires the cooperation of the significant adults in the children's lives. Embroidering the relationship between the school and the parents is critical in order to promote the best interests of the children and requires the attention, observation and effort of all concerned. The lecture will deal with parenting and the important dialogue between the education system and parents, which must be nurtured.

Adolescence is a challenging time for parents as well, especially in the post-COVID era. What is the right thing to do when it comes to my personal teenager: to react or to hold back? Intervene or let them cope on their own? How to improve their self-esteem? How come their self-image is so low? Why don’t they take responsibility? What is my role as a parent and when will they finally grow up? Applied tools for parents of adolescents in a time of great uncertainty...

Parent Groups

Raising children is a complex task

While most parents face similar issues regarding the education of their children, most also feel lonely and frustrated, believing that nobody else can understand what they are going through A group setting provides parents with a safe and secure environment in which they can share negative feelings, such as helplessness, embarrassment, sadness and anger, share feelings and knowledge with other parents, and receive practical tools to improve their parental functioning. A parent group invites a wealth of topics and issues that are addressed and offers participants wisdom of the crowd in problem solving. A parent group is an empowering and unique human experience, known from global research to be highly effective in assisting parents.
